Save the Planet XR

STARTING POINT

STARTING POINT

For the XR Project at Virtual Voyagers Academy I had a blank canvas. I chose the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, and decided to create a experience that would make potential users be aware of how important is to protect our planet.

RESEARCH

RESEARCH

I researched through the Oculus Store and online to find insights about experiences that would help me to advance

These were the most helpful ones

INSIGHTS

INSIGHTS

After my research I summarized insights I got from all the experiences I used, I found 4 strong starting points, initally meant this project could be viable in the market.

DAFO

DAFO

We needed to define the AR and VR devices which would better suit our experience so we designed a DAFO document, finally we decided the best ones would be Oculus Quest 2 for VR and high end devices for AR.

HIPOTHESIS

HIPOTHESIS

The next step was to define an hipothesis we had to validate through the process.

PLANNING

PLANNING

Now it was time to start planning the steps through the process. A Trello board helped as to make it easier, to plan and have thing on time.

USER PERSONA

USER PERSONA

To put ourselves into someone else’s shoes’ I created a user persona showing the needs, motivations, pain points of him, this helped me to make more tangible who where I going to design to.

AR and VR Prototypes

AR and VR Prototypes

After that we prototyped our first ideas for AR and VR in Figma and Unity

FINAL PROTOTYPE

Finally due to COVID19 time constraints we decided to focus in the VR version, this is was the final design we developed.

VALIDATION

We uploaded our app to Sidequest and after users end their first mission we asked them if are they more aware of the problems the planet face, and how their behavior affects to the current problems the Earth has, more than 70% of the users were more aware on how their actions affect climate changed so we validated the initial hypothesis.
